    Terri Esther
    President, Treasurer
I am a co-founder of Southern Friends Animal Society, SFAS. I consider our members and volunteers a family. We are all dedicated to saving as many pet lives as possible. It's the most rewarding life I could have ever imagined. Who rescued who, I now say.
  2. shelter and rescue hernando ms
    Tammy Wilcox
    Sanctuary Manager
Tammy came to our sanctuary in March 2016 with her son, Jackson, who wanted to volunteer. I noticed she would sit in her car while he volunteered. I approached after a few times of visiting & asked her to come meet some of our furry friends. After that, she was hooked! She began showing up with her own lawn equipment, not knowing we had our own. She would mow, weed eat & just visit & love on our dogs. It became obvious to us that Tammy had a love for animals & she was here everyday after that. That's dedication! We love her enthusiasm & joy for rescue.
  3. adoptable dogs near southaven ms and memphis tn
    Karen Kessler
I started volunteering with the local Humane Society in early 2014 and enjoyed being able to help pets find their forever homes! It was an exciting as well as an eye-opening experience that got me even more involved in being a voice for those who have no voice...pets.
  4. Melissa Evans
    Melissa Evans
    Event Coordinator
I've loved animals all my life. A few years ago I began to become more active in community service via the Girl Scout troop that I co-lead. We started working with local shelters and rescues to help raise awareness of the homeless animals in our community and contribute to their supplies as we could. It was my goal to become more involved personally with rescue and due to some job and life changes it finally became possible. I've enjoyed every moment at SFAS. The people are great and the animals are just amazing. It is so rewarding to see these dogs and cats that may have had a very grim fate saved and move to a family of their very own. Those that remain at the sanctuary are loved and cared for by the family of members and volunteers that make up SFAS.
